German Embassy Funds Samar Ecotourism Project

DHM Ralph Timmermann hands over the cheque to Mayor Melchor Nacario

In a press release made available by the German Embassy in Manila, the embassy under its small-scale projects scheme, recently granted Php 500,000 to the Municipality of Calbiga in Samar.

The Ecotourism Site Enhancement Project aims to improve an access trail leading to Lulugayan Falls to promote ecotourism and provide a source of livelihood for the locals.

Representatives of the Municipality of Calbiga, lead by Mayor Melchor Nacario, visited the embassy for the contract signing. Ralph Timmermann, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy, released the grant to Mayor Nacario who expressed his gratitude to the German government.

Small-scale projects are local initiatives funded by the German Embassy and implemented through non-profit entities. Through quick and direct assistance, the projects aim to directly improve the quality of life of the poorest sectors of society.
